Rugby player raises thousands for Royal Preston's neurological research
Abbeytown player Mark Beverley, was on the pitch when he suffered a brain seizure during a rugby tackle and was airlifted to the Fulwood hospital last August.
The neurological team discovered he had a brain tumour, and after an operation in October, he is now on the road to recovery.

Hide AdAs a way of saying thank you, his wife Amy decided to raise money for the Sydney Driscoll Neuroscience Foundation, which enhances neuroscience education and research. She organised a charity ball, sponsored coast to coast bike rides and secured a large donation through her work - Barclay’s Bank.
Gwen Quayle, secretary of the Sydney Driscoll Neuroscience Foundation, said: “The money is fantastic for us and will definitely help with investing in brain tumour research. It is unbelievable. We have never had such a big donation from one family, It is wonderful that somebody has gone to so much effort to help us research and cure brain tumours.
“We have raised a lot of money ourselves and recently established a new library for ward 2a which has neurosurgery books for the surgeons.”
