Hole in one for golfing fund-raisers

A group of keen golfers took a hole in one to a whole new level as they raised almost £2,000 for charity.

Ingol Village Golf Club secretary Tony Cameron and club professional Dean Beaver teed off with 100 holes in a day in aid of Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

Teeing off at 4.30 am, the pair didn’t make it back to the club house until around 9pm, where they were met by club captain Kevin Lindsay and fellow members Stephen Moxham, Chris Lonsdale, Steve Darwen, Eric Billing, Neil Greig and Neil Carroll, who had each completed 72 holes as part of the same fund-raising effort.

Altogether they raised £1,854 for Rosemere Cancer Foundation, the golf club’s charity of the year.

On Sunday, August 14, Kevin is hosting an open team competition. Team entry is £20, which will be donated to Rosemere. Anyone wishing to enter needs to contact the club on 01772 723898.

Kevin and Dean are also raising money by playing pairs matches against club members, with the losers of each match to make a donation.

Donations of 25p for every competition round played at the club by members this season plus small fines administered for any player having a “non-return” round will also be added to the final total.
