City of Preston 10k 2019: Timings, route and parking - here's everything you need to know about this weekend's event

The event was originally set to take place on Sunday, September 29, but was cancelled due to bad weather.

Thankfully, this weekend's weather is looking set to be fine and dry.

If you are taking part, here's everything you need to know about the event.

When is this year's City of Preston 10k and what time will it start?

The rearranged City of Preston 10K is set to take place this Sunday, October 20, 2019 and will start at 9.30am.

Where will the start of the 2019 race be?

As in previous years the race will start and end in the Flag Market in the centre of Preston.

What will be the 2019 route through Preston?

For 2019, the streets of Preston will welcome runners and spectators to the popular route. Starting in Market Street, runners will pass through beautiful scenery via Avenham Park and around the River Ribble, before finishing back on Market Street. The final mile of the race will be named Mo’s Mile, dedicated to Mo Done, the inspiration behind The Running Bee Foundation.

Will all runners receive a medal?

Runners taking part in the event will receive a medal, technical t-shirt and an official chip time.

Will water be available on the route?

Don't worry, organisers have confirmed that water will be supplied at the middle and end of the race.

Where is the best place to park on the day?

Organisers are advising runners to park at Preston Bus Station car park, which is next to Preston's Guild Hall only a two minute walk from the event start.

Will there be road closures during the event?

The following road closure are planned to be in place from 8am until 1pm on Sunday, October 20 2019.

During the closure these will be the diverted routes available to motorists:

Avenham Lane – Queen Street – A6 London Road – A6 Stanley Street – A6 Ring Way – A59 Ring Way – Fleet Street - Lune Street. ii) A59 Ring Way – A6 Ring Way – A6 Stanley Street – A6 London Road – Queen Street – Avenham Lane.

The following one way restrictions will be lifted:Wolseley Road from its junction with Riverside to its junction with Connaught Road

Where can I sign up and how much does it cost?

Standard entry (over 15) with chip time is £23, club runners (over 15) with chip time is £21 and UCLan students (over 15) can race for £12.
