There will be over 500 of the Lytham St Annes Photographic Society member’s images on display, many of which are award winners. It’s on display at The Drive Methodist Church Halls, which is open from 10am until 7pm Monday to Friday and 10am until 5pm Saturday and 10am until 5pm. Dress for a slow walk with frequent stops, to watch the birds. And don’t forget your binoculars and telescope if you have one. The walk starts from Rossall Point Observation Tower on The Esplanade in Fleetwood. Get there for a 9am start. The bird watch should take about an hour - but you can stay afterwards and do some bird spotting of your own. Tours begin in the Great Hall. The Sunday tour is free of charge, along with free admission to the Hall. If you enjoy your visit, there are several donation boxes dotted around the Hall and your contribution, large or small, goes towards the upkeep and preservation of the Hall. There will be lots of children’s activities including rides, bouncy castles, slides, face painting, disco, hook-a-duck, donkey rides, cake stalls and much more. It’s open from 10am until 11pm at Preston Grasshoppers Rugby Football Club on Lightfoot Green Lane. FREE: Nurdle Hunt, Lytham St Annes, Monday, August 7Head over to Lytham St Annes on Monday and join the rangers on their mission to hunt out tiny nurdles of plastic on the beach. According to recent studies, billions of tiny plastic pellets, known as ‘nurdles’, are lost into the UK environment each year. These can significantly harm marine wildlife once they make it into the sea. This is a worthy event that all the family can take part in. Meet at North Beach car park on Clifton Drive North. The Nurdle Hunt will take place between 2pm and 4pm. It’s a celebration through performance, music and dance to mark the tremendous contributions of the people of this area and beyond to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Meet at 10am at Langho & Billington Community Centre on Sunday, before a leisurely dog walk to Whalley at 10.30am, before returning for doggie and human refreshments. The walk will take in approximately four miles. There will also be stalls and music. Admission is free. Non-dog walkers are also welcome.

FREE: Midnite Johnny, Preston, Friday, August 4

Head over to the Ale Emporium, off Fylde Road in Preston, for the return of Midnite Johnny. After a long summer break for American guitarist Johnny, he will be teaming up with bass player Norman Helm to bring some heavy blues and rock. This will be an intimate gig with just the two top musicians and it kicks off at 9pm. Admission is free.
