Dress for a slow walk with frequent stops, to watch the birds. And don’t forget your binoculars and telescope if you have one. The walk starts from Rossall Point Observation Tower on The Esplanade in Fleetwood. Get there for a 9am start. The bird watch should take about an hour - but you can stay afterwards and do some bird spotting of your own. FREE: Nurdle Hunt, Lytham St Annes, Monday, August 7Head over to Lytham St Annes on Monday and join the rangers on their mission to hunt out tiny nurdles of plastic on the beach. According to recent studies, billions of tiny plastic pellets, known as ‘nurdles’, are lost into the UK environment each year. These can significantly harm marine wildlife once they make it into the sea. This is a worthy event that all the family can take part in. Meet at North Beach car park on Clifton Drive North. The Nurdle Hunt will take place between 2pm and 4pm. Head over to the Ale Emporium, off Fylde Road in Preston, for the return of Midnite Johnny. After a long summer break for American guitarist Johnny, he will be teaming up with bass player Norman Helm to bring some heavy blues and rock. This will be an intimate gig with just the two top musicians and it kicks off at 9pm. Admission is free.
