An adaptation of popular children’s book The Demon Headmaster will be staged at Chorley Little Theatre this weekend.
The best-selling novel by Gillian Cross has thrilled children for 30 years and is best known for the BBC TV series broadcast in the 1990s.
This stage production by Chorley Youth Theatre is directed by Kira Brookfield, following up her hit production of Bad Girls from last year.
And it makes good use of the 70-strong members of Chorley Youth Theatre who are all aged between 11 and 19 years old.
The Demon Headmaster himself is played by Ashley Hambrook, right, the only adult in the cast.
Kira, who is also co-chairman of Chorley Youth Theatre said: “It has been a challenging but happy experience working with such a big cast, but I’m extremely proud of all of them. It helps that they are all brilliant, even those with very little previous performance experience.”
The play is on Friday, January 16, and Saturday, January, 17, at 7.30pm, plus there is a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.
Tickets are £6 for adults and £4 for children, from Malcolm’s Musicland 01257 264362 or www.chorleytheatre.com
Chorley Youth Theatre stage two productions per year, with the other one in 2015 being the musical Grease in July.
The group is currently fully subscribed.
