The Damned are rocking up to Action Records in Church Street on Saturday, April 14, to celebrate the launch of their eleventh studio album, ‘Evil Spirits’.

Fans can get vinyl and CD copies of the release signed by the band, who are to this day still known for being the first band to release a punk rock single – ‘New Rose’ – in 1976.

Owner of Action Records, Gordon Gibson, said: “This is a very big event with a very iconic band.

“We got the call very late so it’s been a rush to put it together [but] it's great for Preston."

To attend the signing, fans must purchase a copy of the new release from Action Records in return for a wristband which has to be collected from the shop next Friday or Saturday ahead of the signing at 4:30pm.

Spaces are limited so eager fans are advised to book in advance.

The arrival of The Damned follows the likes of Cabbage and The Wombats visiting Action Records for fans to meet their favourite musicians.

"Everyone has been great," Gordon said. "We had Cabbage last week and the bang loved it. The Wombats too.

"It works out great and has been very professional and run very smoothly.

"Hopefully The Damned will be really good for getting future events organised too."
