A show that pays tribute to a legendary singer, whose life was tragically cut short at the age of 33, will be leaving audiences spellbound at Preston’s Charter Theatre next month.
Songbird: The Music of Eva Cassidy stars actress and singer Sarah-Jane Buckley who has made her name as one of the world’s leading Eva Cassidy interpreters.
Supported by an on-stage live band, video footage and classic Eva Cassidy arrangements, critics have hailed Sarah-Jane’s performance as a “tour de force that is nothing short of phenomenal.’’
She plays Eva to perfection and has worked tirelessly to make her voice an almost exact copy of the original.
Sarah-Jane said: “I want the audience to feel like they have seen Eva Cassidy live.
“I wanted to bring her truly beautiful arrangements to life. When I first heard Eva on Terry Wogan’s radio show her voice stopped me in my tracks. Her vocal range and emotional effect was spellbinding and I was hooked.’’
The show is on at the Charter Theatre in the Guild Hall complex on Wednesday, February 4 and audiences will have the chance to hear over 25 of Sarah-Jane’s unique interpretations of well known songs including Songbird, Fields of Gold and Over the Rainbow.
Eva interpreted melodies from a variety of musical categories including jazz, blues, soul, gospel, folk, country and pop.
Her voice had authentic emotion and power that made it so moving and memorable. Tickets are available by ringing the box office on 0844 844 7710.
