Salvation in the city given brass.
Preston’s Salvation Army Band were on duty in the city last Saturday, and a reader filmed this clip and submitted it to the LEP’s musical advent calendar Sing A Song For Christmas.
The band were entertaining shoppers in Cheapside and collecting funds for the cause when they delivered this moving take on It Came Upon The Midnight Clear.
This has already been a busy Christmas at the hall, with an army of volunteers rallying to the aid of the city’s poorest and most vulnerable people.
From the very beginning The Salvation Army has set itself against hunger. When William Booth began his ministry, he reached out to the poor, the homeless and most vulnerable. One of the things all these people had in common was a severe difficulty getting enough food to get them through the day.
