A festival to celebrate the life of a Preston musician is to take place today.

Evanfest will return to Ships and Giggles this afternoon, in honour of Evan Page who suffered from bipolar and died in November 2012.

The event was first staged in 2013 to honour one of Evan’s last wishes, and will this year see more than 75 musicians take to two stages at the Fylde Road venue.

Evan’s friend Kate Jones said: “Evan would have been absolutely blown away by it.

“Before he died he had asked to have a gig to raise awareness of bipolar so for it to have been going on for three years now, I think he would have just been over the moon.”

Kate said the day would include acts from firedancers, and there would also be an open mic outside, as well as specially-made T-shirts.
