Beatboxer Jason Singh will perform a live vocal score to John Grierson’s critically acclaimed 1929 silent film Drifters at Preston’s Continental pub early next month.
Using pre-recorded sequences, live vocal processing and sampling, Jason will create a sonic backdrop to accompany John Grierson’s film on the lives of North Sea hering fishermen.
Manchester-based Jason aims to inspire people to engage in exciting creative experiences, through performance and participation.
John Grierson has been described as the father of British documentary filmmaking. Premiering in London alongside Battleship Potemkin in 1929, Drifters follows North Sea herring fishermen through their dramatic daily routines.
Doors open at 8pm on Thursday February 5. Tickets £7, £5 concs from SEE Tickets, Skiddle & WeGotTickets or from the venue (01772 499425).
