Preston summer programme of events brings in an additional £116k

As Preston's summer programme of events reaches its halfway point, new research reveals how many people are attracted to the city by the entertainment schedule.

Over the 2017 season, a total of 92,161 people attended events, with the most popular being the Summer Saturday’s series on the Flag Market and in the Harris.

Statistics from a survey by Preston Council showed that an additional £116,280 being spent in the city centre by people who had specifically visited for the activities. Ninety eight per cent of visitors said they would visit again with 94 per cent rating their experience as good or very good.

Councillor Peter Kelly, Cabinet Member for culture and leisure said: “Events are very important to Preston. These statistics show how popular and well received the activities and performances were in 2017.

“Preston’s events and cultural offer are a key part of our approach to develop a welcoming and vibrant city.”
