We need you, the Evening Post readers, to give their verdict on our singing hopefuls. Entries for the LEP’s Symphony Idol contest have now closed.

In conjunction with St Catherine’s Hospice and promoters Cuffe & Taylor, we invited choirs and solo singers to send in video clips of themselves performing.

We’re now asking you to vote for your favourites, who will win a place on stage at the hospice’s annual Symphony at the Tower concert at Hoghton Tower.

The five winning choirs and five solo singers will book their place for a once-in-a-lifetime performance at Symphony Spectacular. The event, on Sunday July 3, will feature a live orchestra, picnics, family fun and a stunning firework finale.

The finalists are: Elizabeth Singleton; David Usher; Ciaran O’Brien; Helen from Higher Walton; Jennifer Thompson; Keith Mitchell; Ruth Naylor; Katy Bradley; Community Voice Choir; The Red Rosettes; Hoghton in Harmony; North West Ambulance Choir; The Preston Musical Comedy Show Choir and Anchorsholme Academy Choir.

LEP digital editor Colin Ainscough said: “We were really impressed with the standard of videos and I’m sure the winners will put on a great show at the Tower.”
