Two soap legends head up family fun day

Two former soap stars are special guests at a charity fun day to raise awareness of ADHD in adults and children.

Ex-Coronation Street actor Bruce Jones (Les Battersby) and Dean Sullivan, who once played Jimmy Corkhill in Brookside, will be at Dantes Halfway House, in Preston Road, Chorley, on Sunday August 21.

Entry is free, with proceeds from stalls and refreshments towards ADHD Lancashire and ADDISS UK (Attention Deficit Disorder Information and Support Services), who organised the event.

Former Britain’s Got Talent finalist Steven Hall will entertain visitors and there will be a several singers performing throughout the day. Children can meet their favourite superheroes and Frozen characters.

There will also be entertainment from Harmony Dance Troupe, balloon making, face painting and samba drums.

Chorley’s Mayor and Mayoress will also be in attendance.

Entertainment is from noon until late.

Organiser Bernadette Ashton, chairman of ADHD Lancashire and Trustee of ADDISS UK, said: “The reason for holding the family fun day is to raise awareness of the condition and to showcase what support there is available in Lancashire for families and adults with the condition.

“We will also have local and national organisations attending with information stands. Lancashire Parent Carer Forum, Contact a Family, ADHD Lancashire and ADDISS UK, will have a heavy presence, plus 22 trade stalls.

“It is free for people to attend however some activities will be subject to a small charge.”
