South Ribble kick start new garden competition in lockdown
Last week, the South Ribble Rotary Club announced their winners of the South Ribble Garden competition - after a tough few days of judging on July 28.
The competition, which was free to enter, saw participants enter their gardens in categories such as best Vegetable Garden, best front garden and best rear garden.
Richard Lea, Secretary of the Rotary Club said the entries for this years' awards were of a very high standard.
The Rotary Club, which was established in 1981 and is part of the global Rotary International network of volunteers, introduced the competition during the pandemic due to the cancellation of other events.
Due to the lockdown, the club felt that many gardens were flourishing due to the extra attention they had been receiving and set up a competition, with the winners announced last Friday.
The winners were as follows:
Trudy Scarisbrick - Overall winner and best rear garden winner
Gill Holt - Key Worker Rear Garden Winner
Joseph Scahill - Front Garden Winner
John Wareing – Vegetable Garden Winner
