The star is to appear at the Viva Blackpool in July and is making sure she is in top shape. She power walks every morning from her home at North Shore and also uses a local gym for training sessions.

She says: “I love walking along the Promenade, I feel so invigorated by the fresh sea air. I do wear a hat and sunglasses but people still recognise me and toot their horns and wave which is nice.”

She’s just released her album called My Gift of Love for You and will perform a medley of hits from her glittering career and her new songs at Viva Blackpool on July 15 in a 90-minute set. She is appearing with comedian and singer Andy Mudd who will perform his classic Billy Joel show. Rose-Marie added: “I can’t wait to perform in Blackpool again which is where I live and look forward to seeing all my old friends at the concert.

“I need to stay on form for the tour too. It starts autumn, it’s 30 dates.”

Rose-Marie’s 19 albums have notched up 17m sales and all gone to gold or platinum.
