REVEALED: Stars announced for Preston's Christmas Concert and Switch On

Eastenders actor Steve McFadden, alias Phil Mitchell, is set to shrug off his hard man image when he switches on Preston's Christmas Lights.

The veteran star of the BBC soap will be all smiles when he makes the journey up North next month.

He leads an array of special guests at the much-anticipated annual event.

A varied line-up of performances and appearances is set to wow the crowds on Saturday, November 25 as Preston’s annual Christmas Concert and Lights Switch On takes place on the city’s Flag Market.

An array of special guest performers has been lined up from 5.30pm until 8pm.

Joining Steve will be:

*Chart topping boy band Union J

*Former lead singer of the Drifters Ray Lewis

Ray Lewis

*Operatic sensation Sean Ruane

*CBeebies star Katy Ashworth

*Singer Kyle Passmore

Organisers Preston Business Improvement District have promised there will be something for all the family.

Prior to the Switch On, Santa’s reindeer will be making a flying visit to the Flag Market between 2pm and 4pm.

Preston BID has promised that, in partnership with Smooth Radio North West, this year’s event will be “extra special.”

Sponsored by St George’s Shopping centre, the Christmas Concert and Switch On will feature live performances and appearances from a wide variety of stars.

This year’s switch-on will feature an enhanced finale with guests being treated to a great lighting and special effects display, supported by the Preston At Night group.

Mark Whittle, manager of Preston BID said: “The Christmas Concert and Switch On is widely regarded as a headline event in the city’s calendar.

“We’re always blown away by the number of people who come out to enjoy the event to help us officially start Christmas in Preston.

“We’re delighted to be working with the North West’s largest commercial radio station, Smooth Radio North West, to stage another outstandingshow”.

Provisional Switch On timetable:

2pm to 4pm: Santa’s reindeer will be making a flying visit to the Flag Market with plenty of Christmas-themed fun.

5.30pm until 8pm: Entertainment and guest appearances. The exact running order is to be confirmed, but the open air concert will feature appearances from Kyle Passmore, Katy Ashworth, Sean Ruane, Ray Lewis and Inion J

8pm approximately: Switch on, when Steve McFadden will flip the switch and officially declare that Christmas in Preston has begun.
