The aim is to test the vehicles to the limit, pulling a sledge-like weight transfer block that gradually becomes heavier around a 100m track.

The North West Tractor Pullers Club (NWTPC) was formed in 1978 , as an affiliated club of the newly formed British Tractor Pullers Association (BTPA) following the first Tractor Pulling events in England and Europe in 1977.

The BTPA became a member of the European Tractor Pulling Committee (ETPC) which governs the sport in Europe, making rules and sanctioning European events.

Tractor pulling fans dub it ‘The World’s Most Powerful Motor Sport’ with some of the wild and wonderful machines taking part producing in excess of 9000 horsepower.
