It has taken over the running of the main hall in 53 Degrees from the UCLan Students’ Union.

A University spokesman said: “We are already making good use of the venue, which has been used for the award-winning Lancashire Science Festival and our annual Graduate Fashion Show amongst other events.

“It will be primarily used by students working with the Students’ Union, for internal events and for community engagement activities.”

53 Degrees ceased to function as a music venue in 2015.

It played host to many major music events, including live shows by Gary Numan, Kasabian, Dizzee Rascal, amongst others.
