Making a carol singing lantern

Bring a little light into your life when you go out carolling this Christmas – with the help of the Harris.

The museum and art gallery, on the Flag Market, in the city centre, is hosting a Christmas carolling lantern making workshop tomorrow afternoon from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.

The session, aimed at children aged from five to 12 years old, is part of the institution’s Hands on at the Harris crafting workshops for youngsters.

Harris volunteers will be on hand to help the participants to create a vintage carolling lantern of their very own.

And, at the same time, they will also be learning a little of the fascinating history of this traditional form of Christmas singing.

Participants can stay for just 15 minutes or for the full two hours at this fun drop in session.

Entry is free and anyone wishing to attend can call Preston City Council for more information on 01772 253731.
