The stage adaptation of David Walliams’ much-loved children’s book is being performed at Preston Guild Hall from Wednesday to Sunday.

The Birmingham Stage Company search for a local young dancer from each part of the country they visit, to give a chance to showcase the local talent.

Following in her mum’s footsteps, Meg attends the Mavis Berry and Helen Allen School of Dance in Leyland.

Over the years, dancing has become integral to her lifestyle, and she has taken part in numerous shows and competitions, most notably performing with the English Youth Ballet in their production of Giselle in 2016.

With aspirations to one day perform in the West End, Meg plans to audition for several prestigious drama schools next year and study a BA Hons Degree in Musical Theatre.

Meg said: “I am very excited to be performing at my local theatre.

“The Charter Theatre at Preston Guild Hall holds some very happy memories for me, and I am very much looking forward to making new memories at this great theatre with this production of Gangsta Granny.”

She said: “My mum used to dance at Mavis Berry’s as a child so she took me when I was four to try it out and I’ve been dancing ever since.

“My family is quite musical so my upbringing involved going to the theatre quite often and I have loved watching shows for as long as I can remember.

“As I child I did a lot of other activities such as swimming and cub scouts but dancing was the thing I enjoyed the most, so as I got older dance became a lifestyle rather than just a hobby.

“In the past few years I have fallen in love with musical theatre and singing as well but dance will always be special to me because I can’t remember my life without it.”

She added: “I have listened to the audio book of Gangsta Granny with my younger cousin who is a big fan of the book and the film.

“My goal for the future is to perform in the West End in musicals such as Les Miserables, Wicked and Chicago.

“However, I also love the idea of working on cruise ships because I would love to travel the world while performing.

“I am currently studying Musical Theatre on the Professional Performance Programme at Runshaw College.

“I plan to audition for several prestigious drama schools next year and, if successful, hope to do a BA hons degree in musical theatre after my time at Runshaw.”
