Let It Be(atles) at the Grand Theatre will bring feelgood factor to resort

They all but stopped traffic as they posed on the Comedy Carpet and made visitors to Madame Tussauds wax lyrical when they dropped by at the attraction's Abbey Road display.

Now the fab foursome who make up the definitive ‘Beatles’ feelgood show are in Blackpool to take over from where the originals left off.

Let It Be has been hailed as the must-experience night (and matinee) for fans of The Beatles. It helps that the four actor-singers who take on the toughest ‘tribute’ of all have respect and genuine affection for the band which now makes them a living. And they are thrilled to be playing a town which marked such a crucial milestone in The Beatles rise to fame. Doubtless there will be many in the audience at the Grand Theatre, Blackpool, from Easter Monday through to Saturday (April 2) who will have watched rather than heard (such was the screaming) The Beatles at the now demolished ABC back in the 60s.

It’s producer Jeff Parry we have to thank for Let It Be. The most conservative estimate reckons two million Beatles fans have seen the show since 2004.

Canadian Jeff admits: “What really excites me is seeing three generations at the show. Hopefully we are doing our bit to create new Beatles fans and keep the magic of the band strong for years to come.”

The show is an epic journey through The Beatles music - effectively the ultimate concert.

Jeff explains: “What makes The Beatles so special, aside from their songs, is that they stayed ahead of the curve and were totally representative of the changing times and themselves. No other group came anywhere near being able to do that so successfully.

People really do seem to like the fact that they don’t have to sit through a story to hear the songs in context to the archival footage we use to depict the times. It’s quite a refreshing take on a show.

“We should be able to close our eyes and hear The Beatles and I think that has been our magic.”
