The King was back in the building

Elvis was in the building...or at least his spirit was.

Followers of this popular local theatre company were out in force and vocal in their appreciation of a show packed with the Presley presence.

Producer and choreographer Sara Mills once again showcased another well-drilled spectacular featuring a big cross-section of age groups. The costumes were particularly striking and accentuated the energy and vitality of the performers.

This was far from being a tribute show as each soloist performed in their own individual style.

David and Philippa Cookson put together a lovely version of Love Me Tender with nice harmonies and Bethany Heartwell’s smokey-voiced Heartbreak Hotel was excellent. Gaynor Rigby’s rendition of Don’t was well-received and especially pleasing was a sexy Mess of Blues by Suzanne Steel. Roger Lloyd Jones, charismatic as ever, excelled throughout, particularly with If I Can Dream.

There were plenty of cheers for the sequinned and feathered Las Vegas Showgirl routine. But best of all was Sara Mills haunting vocals for In The Ghetto, a polished and professional performance.
