The iconic resort attraction was lit up with the words 'Vote Joe and Vanessa' as Emmerdale star Joe, 18, took to the ice with professional partner Vanessa Bauer for the fourth episode of the celeb skating contest for dance week.

Joe and Vanessa had been busy in training all week ahead of their quickstep for the Ballroom Blitz themed show and had taken some inspiration for their routine with a special visit and dance session at the Empress Ballroom in the historic Winter Gardens.

The tribute was arranged for the 18-year-old actor by Shop It Local in Blackpool, a service that delivers food and essentials to the elderly and vulnerable during the coronavirus pandemic which Joe has been helping.

In a video message dedicated to his hometown ahead of the show, Joe said: "A big, big thank you to every one who voted for me and Vanessa, We're through to dance week and it means so much to me knowing I have so many people from my hometown rooting for me and I can't describe how it feels, I appreciate it so much."

Joe and Vanessa finished joint top with a total 32.5 points handed out by the DOI, the same score given to Lady Leshurr and pro-skater partner Brendyn Hadfield and former Coronation Street star Faye Brookes and Hamish Gaman.

Blackpool-born Joe is represented by Blackpool's Scream Management and is the youngest ever Dancing On Ice contestant.
