‘Dirty Dancing - The Classic Story On Stage’ starts its tour of UK and Ireland with a three-week-run in Blackpool between August 11 and 30, before moving around the country right up until June 2017.

The show broke box office records when it originally opened back in 2006, becoming the fasting selling show in West End theatre history and playing to over 2 million people, during its five-year run at Aldwych Theatre.

This brand new version of the production, produced by Karl Sydow and Paul Elliott, will star seasoned West End performer Lewis Griffiths as Johnny Castle Baby Houseman being played by Katie Hartland, making her professional musical theatre debut.

The production, written by the 1987 film’s script writer Eleanor Bergstein, is also described as having all the much-loved characters and dialogue from the original film with new, “exciting” scenes added in.

Blackpool Winter Gardens have announced that a new batch of tickets have been made available for Friday and Saturday showings to match the incredible demand, with the show taking £5m in box office sales nationwide.

Of the new tickets, Winter Gardens Managing Director Michael Williams said: “As we want as many people as possible to enjoy what is going to be a fantastic show, we are opening up the normally closed top balcony at weekends and are introducing a very affordable new ticket price at £15.

Producer Karl Sydow added: “We are excited to bring Dirty Dancing: The Classic Story on Stage to Blackpool for the first time this August and are delighted that the town has welcomed the show so warmly, so much so that we are now releasing upper balcony tickets and hope everyone in Blackpool will join us for a phenomenal night out at a record-breaking show, at an affordable price.

Tickets are on sale now from the Winter Gardens website (www.wintergardensblackpool.co.uk), priced between £15 and £49.50.

Tickets are limited to those over the age of 12, so ‘baby’ may have to be left at home with the babysitter, as this isn’t to be missed.
