Fun days in the park

The Green Fayre is the main attraction in July’s events calendar in West Lancashire’s parks.

An array of craft displays and musical entertainment has been lined up for the weekend of the free Fayre, which takes place at Beacon Country Park on July 19-20.

There will be working woodlands demonstrations of chainsaw carving, willow weaving and basket making, while the main arena will feature dog displays, historical re-enactments and birds of prey displays.

There will also be plenty of entertainment aimed at the children.

The following week, dazzling dancers will be showing off their moves at the free Ormskirk Dance Fest on Saturday, July 12 at Coronation Park, Ormskirk, between midday and 5pm.

Visitors can see award-winning dance teams and celebrities from the dance world at the bandstand.

Musical entertainers take centre stage later in the month with the start of the free 
summer music festival 
concerts in Coronation Park, Ormskirk.

Also brass bands and other musicians will be performing every Saturday and Sunday between 2pm and 4pm from late July to the bank holiday weekend in August.

Ormskirk Ukelele Band will be the first to perform and they will be at the park’s bandstand on Saturday, July 26, while Flixton Brass Band will entertain the crowds on Sunday, July 27.

As well as these events the regular health walks take place every week.

On Tuesdays the walks start from Richmond Park bowling pavilion, Burscough, at 10am, and on Wednesdays they start from Coronation Park bowling pavilion, Ormskirk, at 1pm.
