A festival for Christmas

It’s a celebration of the season this weekend as Brockholes Nature Reserve host their Christmas Festival.

Father Christmas is the star as the Lancashire Wildlife Trust nature reserve stages three days of festive fun from tomorrow until Monday.

Children can visit the Christmas Stable, which is inhabited by donkeys from a local sanctuary.

And there will be seasonal crafts, activities and stories to get this Christmas off to a super start. The Christmas Festival is the highlight of the reserve’s festivities this season.

Father Christmas will be on duty in his Grotto from 11am to 3pm each day and, for £5, little ones can meet him and receive a present too.

Visits to him must be prebooked however so call the reserve on 01772 872000.

Entry to the Christmas Stable is free and your child can have their picture taken with one of its friendly donkey inhabitants for just £2.

In the activity room, kids can make and take home their own Christmas wreaths for £3 to £6, and even home made snow globes for just £2.

And they and their families can listen to some festive tales are classics that will delight little ones and may raise fond memories for adults too.
