After selling out their UK tour last year, American rockers Wheatus are back in the UK and play Preston Guild Hall’s LiVe venue tonight (Friday, May 5).

The outfit from Northport, New York, formed in 1995 and are best known for their 2000 single Teenage Dirtbag, which also charted again 10 years later.

Frontman, producer and songwriter Brendan Brown says they do indeed still love playing their multi-platinum, ubiquitous classic.

With a new line-up, they continually hit the road throughout the US and UK, including the sold out UK Get Happy Tour.

Bowie Experience at Preston Guild Hall on Saturday night is a spectacular concert featuring all the music of one of the world’s greatest pop icons.

It’s a sound and vision journey through Bowie’s golden years from A to Ziggy and features songs such as Space Oddity, Starman, Fashion, Life on Mars, China Girl, Rebel Rebel, Golden Years, Modern Love, All the Young Dudes, Let’s Dance, Heroes and Absolute Beginners.

The Scarecrows’ Wedding at Preston Charter Theatre next Tuesday afternoon is a West End adaptation of the book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, creators of The Gruffalo. Scarecrows Betty O’Barley and Harry O’Hay decide to get married and set off to search for their wedding day essentials.

It’s a production bursting at the seams with Scamp Theatre’s inimitable style and promises wit, drama, and wedding bells, for all aged 3+.

Preston College Dance Academy host The Faye Knowle-Chapman Award for Choreography at Preston Charter Theatre next Thursday night.

Also in the world of dance, two fairy tales, a tango dance party, a love story and a reunion combine in a season of dance at the Lowry in Salford during May.

The line-up includes renowned Arthur Pita & HeadSpaceDance, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Ana Morales Flamenco Company, Cas Public and Jasmin Vardimon.

Pita, in collaboration with HeadSpaceDance, presents Stepmother/Stepfather next Tuesday. In Reunión next Friday, Ana Morales Flamenco Company teams up with guest artist David Coria. The following week Dance Consortium and choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui open their UK tour of m¡longafor the 21st century. Symphonie Dramatique on May 23 is a humorous look at Romeo and Juliet, while Pinocchio is on May 27-28.

The Guild Hall has announced that UK dates by the Celtic Tenors, including the May 8 date scheduled at Preston, have had to be cancelled.
