Tickets are on sale now and Spikey said he is delighted with the response: “It’s just lovely to have a performance, albeit a little different, for me to look forward to.

“What is strange is when I started out on the now postponed tour earlier this year, The Lowther was the last show I performed.

“So I jumped at the chance to help with their reopening - it’s so tough for the theatres right now. It’s tough for everyone.

“I have said I’m in a privileged position and I’m collecting a pension now but performing is a joy and just to give people a smile, have a chat, have that interaction is massively important. It’s been challenging.

“Lockdown I’ve spent mastering my DIY - I fixed my Velux windows, my by-fold doors and saved a couple of hundred quid there. I bought a jetwash in the special buys in Lidl and it was the best investment ever, I’ve jetwashed everything in sight.

“I have spent a lot of time writing too and it’s some of the everyday, relatable things that form part of the show, sayings, slogans and then a sort of question and answer session for the second half, where people will have submitted their questions.”

Before his career in comedy, Spikey spent more than 30 years working in the NHS as a biomedical scientist and says he will be sharing personal stories and anecdotes from his life through the years.

He added:“It’s funny because over the years I’ve been asked tons and tons of questions in interviews but this is the first time, I’ve actually had the chance to do something like this and I’m looking forward to that part of it.

“The pressure is off in thinking I have to find a laugh after every line. It’s going to be 170 people roughly so more of an experience. I just want people to have a good time and be safe.”
