Bar holds tribute to a Diamond geezer

A tribute evening is to be held in memory of much-loved Blackpool entertainer Jack Diamond.

The event at the Galleon Bar Abingdon Street, Blackpool, takes place on Tuesday, July 5 from 8pm.

Jack Diamond was a popular comedy host and performed many seasons in Blackpool.

After building up a reputation as a top comic in his native Manchester, Jack opened as the star act of his revue show at The Norbreck Castle.

He once dated and got engaged to The Coronation Street actress Julie Goodyear in the 1970’s. He was well known by many if the cast and remained life long friends with Liz Dawn who attended his on funeral on May 24

He married his soul mate one of ‘The Roly Poly’s’ Marie Ashton in 1992, before retiring due to ill health in 2004.

Galleon Bar owner Stephen Pierre, who is organising the tribute, said: “I spoke to him by telephone a few times in recent years and he could still have you in stitches without him even trying.

“We will be raising a glass in his memory providing a buffet cabaret entertainment and a raffle. All proceeds raised will be donated to The British Heart Foundation.”
