Preston North End have confirmed their retained list following the end of the 2016-17 season.
Simon Grayson revealed after the Wolves defeat on Sunday that Jermaine Beckford and Anders Lindegaard would be released and that Simon Makienok’s stay wouldn’t be extended beyond the end of his season-long loan from Palermo.
The Lilywhites also announced on Monday night that young right back Clive Smith has been released and that they have exercised an option on goalkeeper Mat Hudson’s contract that extends his Deepdale deal for a further year.
Smith, 19, spent the second-half of the season on loan at St Johnstone after a deadline-day move and made two starts for the Scottish Premiership side.
Hudson, who like Smith signed professional terms back in January 2016, has appeared on the bench for PNE this season and alongside Chris Maxwell and academy product Callum Roberts is one of three goalkeepers under contract for next season.
Loan players Aiden McGeady, Alex Baptiste, Tyias Browning and Makienok have returned to their parent clubs at the end of their loan spells.
While Makienok has definitely played his last game for the club, doing a deal with Everton for player of the year McGeady is North End’s number one transfer priority this summer and both Browning, also a Toffees player, and Baptiste, entering the final year of his Middlesbrough contract, could return.
