Clitheroe ace Samantha Murray finished sixth at the Welsh Open fencing, as she continues her modern pentathlon preparations for the Rio Olympics next year.
Fencing is one of the five events in modern pentathlon, along with 200m, freestyle swimming, show jumping, and the combined pistol shooting, and 3,200m cross-country run.
Competing at the Sport Wales National Centre in the Open Senior Women’s Epee, Murray was sixth, with fellow Pentathlon GB athletes Francesca Summers fifth, and Mhairi Spence second.
The event was won by Amy Radford of Cardiff University.
Murray, world champion last year, qualified for Rio 2016 after finishing fifth as she defended her title at the World Championships in June in Berlin.
She won Team GB’s final medal at the 2012 Olympics, when she claimed silver.
