Simon Kerrigan guides F&B to win over Garstang

F&B won the Highfield clash by 24 runs, which kept them above 11th-placed side Penrith who has a surprise win against St Annes.

Kerrigan, batting at three, was the home side’s top scorer and helped them to a 211 all out after they had elected to bat first.

Matthew Smith added 45, while for Garstang, Danny Gilbert (right)  posted 6-39 from a 13-over spell.

Opening pair Michael Walling and Fayaz Ugradar got Garstang’s reply off to a solid start, hitting 45 and 43.

Michael Wellings, coming in at three, added 33 as the scoreboard ticked along.

But F&B’s bowling attack started to get on top and they bowled out Garstang for 187 in the 47th over.

Jon Fenton finished with 4-24, Dominic Jackson 3-9 and Richard Turner 2-22.

Leyland collected 11 points from their drawn clash with Morecambe at Woodhill Lane.

Batting first after winning the toss, David Makinson’s men were 215-6.

Ross Bretherton struck 65 from 76 balls – hitting three sixes and seven fours – while Umar Waheed scored 47 and Henry Thompson 41.

Morecambe replied with 202-7, holding out for a share of the spoils.

Bretherton followed up his good performance with the bat by taking 3-36.

Chorley were seven-wicket winners over whipping boys Preston at West Cliff.

Preston, who have lost all their games and collected only five bonus points, batted first and were bowled out for just 59 in 21.4 overs. Chris Harty took 4-25 and Ian Oakes 3-15.

Chorley lost their first three batsmen for single figures before Edwin Moulton and Gayan Maneeshan came together to get the runs needed.

Manssehan was unbeaten on 28 and Moulton 17 not out.

Netherfield remain on top of the table after a thrilling win over Fleetwood.

The Parkside Road clash saw 478 runs scored, with the visitors putting 237-4 on the board after being put in.

Neels Bergh hit 101 not out, scoring at almost a run a ball.

But Netherfield chased down their target inside 48 overs, finishing on 241-4.

Blackpool, who are hot on the heels of Netherfield, beat Barrow by five wickets. Third-placed St Annes went down to defeat at Penrith for who  Ashwin Hebbar scored 126.
