Preston North End in Numbers: Darnell Fisher ranks high in unlikely stats table

But the Preston North End right back is statistically one of the most fouled players in the Championship.

You read that right. He’s certainly no flying winger who is hacked down with regularity but Fisher is winning free-kicks left, right and centre for the Lilywhites.

According to the website whoscored.com the 24-year-old is joint fourth in the standings, being on the receiving end of an average of 2.7 fouls in every game.

Those around him are more expected when it comes to this particular category.

Wigan playmaker Nick Powell is on the same 2.7, with Aston Villa’s creative force Jack Grealish leading the way on five fouls a game.

Sheffield Wednesday’s Fernando Forestieri and Queens Park Rangers’ Eberechi Eze are next on 2.8 just ahead of Fisher.

Elsewhere for Preston, the individual stats leaders are a little more predictable.

Callum Robinson leads the way for North End in more ways than one area this season.

The leading goalscorer on six goals in all competitions, he has also played the most minutes of all the squad - 1,123.

Looking at the Championship as a whole, whoscored.com has Robinson out in front when it comes to shots per game, the versatile forward sending in an average of 3.5 in each match as he has made a fine start to the season.

Brentford’s in-form frontman Neal Maupay is on the same.

Robinson also sneaks into the top 10 for crosses per game, an average of 1.8 going into the box for his team-mates.

Looking further through the team, it’s no surprise to see Ben Pearson in the tackles-per-game table.

He is eighth overall on 2.9, Stoke’s Joe Allen leading the way on 3.5.

The midfielder, banned for Saturday’s game at Hull, is of course also one of just four players to have picked up the five yellow cards needed for a one-game suspension.

Pearson is joined by Middlesbrough’s Adam Clayton, Sheffield Wednesday’s Barry Bannan and Millwall’s Jed Wallace.

It has taken the PNE man the fewest number of games however and he is the only one of the four with a red card on his record as well.

In defence, Ben Davies charts in the blocks per game, sixth on 1.2 with West Bromwich Albion defender Ahmed Hegazi out in front on 1.5.
