Match-winner Callum Robinson believes Bristol City win was another big step in r...

The frontman made his milestone appearance in last week’s 1-0 victory at Bristol City, netting the winner.

It came more than four years after he first joined PNE on loan from Aston Villa as a teenager.

Robinson said: “Getting to this number of games is a very proud moment for myself and my family.

“It’s been a very big four years and I’ve enjoyed every moment of it.

“I think 150 games for any club is a good achievement and to do it so young makes me really happy.

“Preston have given me the chance and opportunity to show what I can do over the years.

“The fans have been very patient with me, they have had to wait for me to grow as a player.

“Slowly I’m getting there to the stage of performing really consistently for the team.”

It was perhaps appropriate that Robinson should make his 150th PNE appearance and net his 36th goal for the club at Ashton Gate.

He had four months on loan at Bristol City in the first half of the 2015/16 season, one which was far from successful.

By then, Robinson had been on loan twice with PNE.

After his spell with the Robins, he had a third loan period at Deepdale and signed permanently from Villa in July 2016 in a £170,000 deal.

Robinson said: “It is always nice when you score to help you win.

“If you score and you end up losing, it doesn’t really mean as much.

“Hopefully winning at Bristol City can kick-start our away form.

“We got the 1-1 draw against Ipswich the week before so four points from two long trips was quite good going.

“After the break we have some big games coming up.”

Saturday’s winner was his ninth goal of the campaign, Robinson officially having been credited with scoring the fourth goal against Wigan last month – at the time it went down in some quarters as an own goal from Dan Burn.

The 23-year-old is away on international duty with the Republic of Ireland.

He is set to feature against Northern Ireland in a friendly at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium this evening.

If Robinson plays, it will be his fifth international cap in the last two months.

“The Northern Ireland game is a big one, I’m looking forward to that,” he said.

“Then we go to Denmark for a Nations League game on Monday, which we need to get a result from.

“I’ve enjoyed experiencing international football and I think it has helped me at club level too.”
