After seeing his charges pick up a valuable win against the team sitting second in the League Two table Bentley said: “It was a massive performance, a great win and thoroughly deserved.

“From minute one we were at it and we played some great football on an excellent pitch which made all the difference for us.

“At times our football was very good and that was shown by the quality of the goals we scored.

“It was 3-0 at half-time and it could have been more to be honest as we had a great chance just before the break to add a fourth and went close again seconds into the second half before Gregg Wylde finally added another with a great individual goal.

“Fair play to Wycombe they came back and had a real go. They pushed bodies forward and it was all hands to the pump for a time and we were disappointed to concede twice to set up a finish that was more nervous than it should have been.

“But we knew that would happen and for the most part we defended well and put in some good blocks with Barry Roche making a couple of great saves too when called upon.

“The main disappointment for me really was that we didn’t make the most of the space we had when they were pushing people forward.

“They left spaces at the back and gave us the chance to go one-on-one with their defence but we didn’t really take that chance.

“In the end though we were quite disciplined and ran the clock down and got a vital three points which were massive for us especially on a day when clubs around us picked up points too.”
