The PNE man then got on scoresheet himself on in the 69th minute, converting Eddie Nketiah’s cross from close range for his first of the season.

While he has played from Under-16s through to Under-19s for England and for the Under 21s, this was his first Under 20s appearance.

Nmecha joined North End on a season-long loan in August and has made 15 appearances - nine starts and six from the bench.

He was born in Germany and lived there until he was nine but has chosen to play internationally for England.
