The Dolly Blues snapped a three-match losing run with an excellent 4-1 victory away at Coalville Town on Saturday in the NPL Premier Division.
They then followed that up on Tuesday night with a fine 2-0 away win over Warrington Town in the Integro League Cup.
Brown, pictured below, admits the past couple of months have probably been his most challenging since returning to the club at the end of 2015 as manager.
Prior to last weekend, City had picked up just two wins from 11 games, which caused a few murmurs of discontent among the terraces at the Giant Axe.

Despite the difficult period, Brown – who held a heart-to-heart with his men last week – revealed there had been no doubts among his squad that the team’s fortunes would change. “I think there was more doom and gloom outside the changing room than there was in it,” said Brown.
“I don’t think we thought for one minute that there wouldn’t be an upturn in our fortunes. Results are results and with the run we had been on, people started to put two and two together and get five.
“We were always confident that there would be an upturn in form, the players were still working hard – that was never in question. It was great to get the two wins this week.”
This weekend, City host Rushall Olympic before next Wednesday’s LFA Challenge Trophy semi-final clash against Chorley at the County Ground.
“We only played Rushall a couple of weeks ago and they beat us 3-0,” said Brown.
“As much as we weren’t great, they were pretty decent so we know what’s coming.”
City will be without Billy Akrigg (foot), Rob Henry (illness) and Paul Dugdale, who is unavailable, this weekend.
