However, qualification to the knockout stage is by no means impossible - and the Reds will almost guarantee it, if they beat Napoli at Anfield in just under two weeks time.

That said, there are permutations, which doesn't make for simple reading, but we've presented the possible outcomes in simplified fashion (we hope!).

The current Group C table:

Jurgen Klopp's side sit third in Group C with one match day remaining, two points off second place PSG and three points off the Serie A club in top spot.

1. Napoli - 9 points

2. PSG - 8 points

3. Liverpool - 6pts

4. Red Star Belgrade - 4 points

How can Liverpool qualify from Group C?

Liverpool WILL qualify from the group if they win 1-0 or by two goals.

A 2-1 win would only see the Red through if PSG fail to beat Red Star Belgrade.

Because Klopp's side failed to score in a 1-0 defeat in Naples, if Napoli score and Liverpool don't win by two clear goals, they will exit on the away goal rule.

Draw against Napoli and the Reds are unable to catch the top two as they already possess a greater points total.

The Europa League...

As a consolation prize, Liverpool drop into the knockout stages of the Europa League.

The only way Klopp's men will exit Europe completely is if they lose to Napoli and Red Star Belgrade beat PSG
