Preston Grasshoppers have signed promising Fylde centre/fly-half Tom Forster on loan for the season from neighbours Fylde.
Forster is still part of Fylde coach Paul Arnold’s long-term plans, but he has allowed Forster to go to Lightfoot Green to give him the opportunity to develop his game.
Forster has yet to play in the Fylde first team, but he has played in development matches and in the second XV for the Woodlands club. He attended his first Preston training session this week.
Arnold said: “Tom can play at No.10 or No.12 and he is a talent.
“He would not get into our first team at present and we don’t want to stand in the way of players who want to develop their game by getting senior first team rugby at another club.
“If he got into the Preston team, he would have a lot of good experience playing around him, and it can only help him in the long term.”
Arnold said there could be further such link-ups between the two Lancashire neighbours in due course.
Preston fly-half Lewis Allen moved in the opposite direction to Fylde earlier in the summer.
