He guided Watford to promotion to the Premier League in May 2015 but did not get the chance to lead them in the top flight, with Quique Sánchez Flores replacing him that summer. Jokanovic, who had a two-year spell as a player with Chelsea, started his coaching career in Serbia with Partizan. The 48-year-old has also worked at clubs in Thailand, Bulgaria, Spain and Israel.

MEET THE REF: Simon Hooper

The Wiltshire referee will take charge of a Preston game for the fourth time this season when they face Fulham at Craven Cottage. The three so far have all resulted in wins, against Bournemouth, Bristol City and Brighton. This will be the 34th game of the campaign that Mr Hooper has overseen, the latest being Aston Villa’s clash with Bristol City. This is his ninth season on the Football League list and he has had one appointment in the Premier League.

19 years ago: David Moyes got his first league win as PNE boss, Michael Appleton and Simon Davey scoring in a 2-0 victory at Bournemouth.
