Alex Neil pleased with Preston's reaction as they come from behind to end losing run against Leeds
Boss Alex Neil admitted it was all about the result after Preston got back to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over Leeds at Deepdale on Tuesday night.
Kemar Roofe gave the visitors an early lead only for a Paul Gallagher penalty and Sean Maguire’s header to turn the game around in three minutes shortly after the interval.
Alan Browne’s header eight minutes from time made sure of the points as PNE ended a three-game losing run which left their play-off hopes hanging by a thread.
“Our last few performances have been good but we’ve not had anything to show for it,” said Neil.
“Tonight was about getting the points and the fact we scored three goals as well was good.
“But I did think we played well. The first half I thought we were unfortunate to go in 1-0 down.
“We were just concerned it was going similar to the previous games.
“We hit the post, should have scored a header from four yards and created other bits and bobs.
“I just said to them at half-time ‘lads, everyone here, me, the fans, we’re all a bit fed up of playing well and not getting a result. The bottom line is you are in the team to do certain jobs and you need to pull your finger out and do it’.
“And to be fair to them, that’s exactly what they did and they deserve a lot of credit for that.”
