This year’s finals of the Preston Veteran’s Bowling League merit and doubles competitions were played at the Empire Services Club.
The merit prize was won by Lonsdale’s Brian Law.
He proved to be the man on form, with some great close bowling, reflecting Law’s consistency in the earlier rounds, helping him to overcome a worthy challenge from Lostock Cons’ Terry Bellamy.
The doubles knockout final proved to be a close and tense affair.
The lead was swapped between the two teams throughout the hard fought final.
But it was Empire’s Brian Wilson and Alan Catterall who came good at the end to wrestle the game from Lostock Cons’ Bob Brown and Frank Martin, running out to triumph 21-18.
