Tiger Roll

Tiger Roll was pulled-up on his latest start over the Cross Country fences at Cheltenham in November, but is set to return to action in the Boyne Hurdle on Sunday, a race he won in 2019.

The weights for the £1-million event are headed by Bristol de Mai (11st 10lb) who chased home Native River in the Cotswold Chase at Sandown last time out. The Grand National is the plan for Nigel Twiston-Davies’ charge.

Bristol de Mai shares joint top-weight with French raider Easysland (11st 10lb) who won the Cross Country Chase at the 2020 Cheltenham Festival and the Nicky Henderson-trained Santini (11st 10lb).

Irish trainer Gordon Elliott has 16 entries for the Aintree showpiece with Tiger Roll set to be joined by the likes of Presenting Percy (11st 9lb), Delta Work (11st 9lb) and The Storyteller (11st 8lb).

Other horses of interest include the progressive Lake View Lad (11st) who won the Many Clouds Chase at Aintree in December and Irish Grand National hero Burrows Saint (10st 13lb)

2019 Grand National second Magic Of Light looks well-weighted at 10st 13lb as does Kimberlite Candy on 10st 10lb.

Also worth mentioning are the likes of Cheltenham Festival winner Any Second Now (10st 9lb), OK Corral (11st 10lb). 2020 Virtual Grand National hero potters Corner looks interesting off 10st 6lb as does Milan Native who is a Cheltenham Festival hero and is also in off 10st 6lb.

However, the interesting contender at this stage looks to be Cloth Cap for Jonjo O’Neill. He was a stunning winner of the Ladbrokes Trophy at Newbury on his latest start and he is firmly on course for the Grand National according to trainer Jonjo O’Neill. He looks to have an attractive weight at 10st 5lb.

As for the betting, Kimberlite Candy, Cloth Cap and Tiger Roll are the current 16/1 joint-favourites for the Grand National.

Others towards the top of the market include Burrows Saint (20/1) and Any Second Now (20/1). Easysland, Presenting Percy, Magic Of Light, Potters Corner, The Conditional and Secret Reprieve are all next in at 25/1 with 28/1 bar the rest of the field.

Grand National selection: Cloth Cap 16/1
