As the busy international season continues, Olympians Murray, Jamie Cooke and Joe Choong will all head to Berlin as preparation for this year’s senior major championships.

Sam Curry, who has competed at three World Cups during 2018 completes the Pentathlon GB men’s team with Jo Muir and Georgia Hannam joining Murray in the women’s line-up as part of a strong entry field in the German capital.

Murray will be making her first appearance in Germany since the 2015 World Championships, a competition which saw her finish fifth, putting up a fine defence of the world title she had won 12 months earlier.

Choong also competed in the German Championships last year, finishing fifth in his first appearance of the 2017 season.

This year, his trip to North Germany will come off the back of two World Cups, where he has already recorded a top five finish at WC3 in Hungary.

Cooke has also recorded a top 10 result in World Cups this season, finishing seventh at WC2 in Los Angeles while Curry made his first final of the season at WC4 in Sofia before finishing second to Joe at the British Open Modern Pentathlon Championships earlier this month.

Muir has endured an illness and injury interrupted start to 2018, so will be making just her second international appearance of the season.

However, the 23-year-old has competed twice domestically in the last two months, medalling at the British Modern Tetrathlon Championships in April. Hannam, originally from Morecambe, is the only junior athlete heading to Germany, continuing a busy season for the 20-year-old which has already seen her compete in Hungary, Italy and the Czech Republic, as well as making her World Cup debut in Egypt.

The women’s competition will take place on Saturday, with the men’s event following on Sunday.
