Impressive medals haul for Buckshaw

Buckshaw TaeKwonDo took 16 students to T-UK Trident championships and came home with 17 medals.

In the black belt divisions, world champion Chloe Bevan kicked off the medal haul winning silver in sparring.

Bevan went on to to win the women’s high kick trophy.

There were outstanding performances in the coloured belt divisions with the club dominating and having three all-Buckshaw finals in sparring.

Emily Fursman took on Amber Parker in the girls’ Under-11s final, after two rounds of extra time Fursman came out victorious to take gold with some excellent sparring on display.

Colin Kafel went against Jacob Baker (both Buckshaw) in the boys’ Under-11s junior grade final and again the match was tied after normal time, with Kafel winning the extra round to take gold.

The boys’ Under-11s senior grade, Buckshaw had four competitors. Oliver Bullen had four tough fights to win silver in a very close final, Oliver Mercer, Ben Howard and Finley Wood all putting in excellent performances.

Declan Wood won bronze in sparring in a tough Under-15s category but won the boys’ high kick.

Adults Danny Parker and Mike Carroll both won their rounds to make the last all-Buckshaw final of the day, with some top technical skill on display in the men’s lightweight final.

Parker just took it, but it was a great fight to watch. The pair also won silver and bronze respectively in patterns.

Michelle Mercer won bronze in sparring. Husband and wife Nick and Julie Fursman competed for the first time and both put in great performances with Julie winning silver in Patterns and winning Gold in sparring.
