Leyland and Chorley Hockey Club men’s 1sts sealed the championship with a 4-1 victory over Bury men’s 2nds.

&C secured promotion after finishing top of the Divsion Five North North table after a victory inspired by a Mark Collier hat-trick.

The Reds broke the deadlock in the 25th minute thanks to a piece of individual brilliance from Collier, who slammed a reverse-stick shot past Bury’s keeper.

Soon after they doubled their lead with a great team goal, Andy Hey squared to Nick Dunn, who fed the overlapping James Gallacher. He picked the ball up on the 25-yard line, drove into the D and smashed the ball into the back of the net.

Collier bagged another two goals in the second half to give the hosts an unassailable lead.

Bury pulled a goal back late on.

Leyland and Chorley men’s 2nds also secured promotion by beating local rivals Preston 6-2.

Rahul Bammania started the rout by smashing home a straight strike from a penalty corner.

Adrian Thornton lobbed the keeper after a sublime solo run, before Preston pulled a goal back.

Roger Swansbry made it three but Preston netted their second of the match.

Leyland upped the tempo as both Thornton and Swansbry found the back of the net.

Sarkwart Karim bagged the sixth and completed the scoring as Leyland secured promotion from Division Six North North with one game to go.

Meanwhile, Sarah Maycock’s hat-trick sealed a 3-0 victory over Springfields 4ths for unbeaten champions Leyland and Chorley ladies 1sts.

The Reds finished the season with a 100% winning record from their 16 league games in the Lancashire Central Women’s Hockey Association Division Two.
