Kirkham Grammar School’s hockey 1st Xl dominated from start to finish in a 6-1 victory against Wakefield.

They did not really face any pressure from the opposition until a breakaway goal in the last minute.

KGS passed the ball well, they were composed in possession and solid in defence.

They followed up this victory by puttingWilmslow to the sword 5-0. Jess O’Neill opened the scoring with a tap in at the far post from Rachel Greenwood’s strike.

Soon after, and on her 1st XI debut, Olivia Grindrod slotted the ball away from close range beating the keeper with confidence.

Afterthe break KGS worked the ball around the back of the defence, and openings appeared that allowed Greenwood to convert from a reverse-stick shot.

A fourth goal arrived when Rachel McCrae converted on her 1st XI debut.

And to complete a great team performance, Grindrod added to her goal tally with a well-worked goal from the midfield.
