Summer signing Sean St Ledger is being tipped to blossom into a top-class right-back by PNE manager Paul Simpson.
St Ledger arrived in a 225,000 deal from Peterborough last month to bolster the centre of North End's defence.
But he's also been used in some of the pre-season friendlies at full-back, his versatility appealing to Simpson.
He said: "Sean covers both the centre-back and right-back positions for us.
"Long-term, he has got potential to be a very good right-back, but I have to say in the two games he has played in the middle, I have been very impressed.
"He's given me plenty of food for thought."
