Despite that numerical disadvantage, they looked on course for victory thanks to a Daniel Johnson goal.

But they were pegged back in stoppage time by a superb equaliser from Kevin McDonald.

Right-back Woods played in that game and felt it was one they should have won.

“It is going to be a tough game on Saturday, as it was when we played Wolves at our place in September,” Woods told the Evening Post.

“A late goal did us that day when two of the lads had got sent off.

“We should have won that game – it was disappointing not to, so hopefully we can put things right this time.

“Molineux is a good ground to play at and we are looking forward to the game.”

Woods has started the last five games on the right-hand side of the defence, at either right-back or right wing-back.

The latest came against his former club Huddersfield last Saturday, with him supplying the cross for Alan Browne’s winning goal in added-on time.

Said Woods: “I was pleased to see that goal go in so late in the game.

“During the game I had come inside on my left foot a few times and crossed it that way without any joy.

“When the ball came to me in stoppage time, I decided to go down the outside of their left-back and put one in with my right foot.

“Fair play to Alan Browne, it was a good jump from him and he had to get above two of their players to head it.

“It wasn’t the best display by a long way but the result was the main thing.

“Even after going behind, we knew we would still get chances.

“I’m enjoying being back in the side, I’ve played the last five games.

“I’ve played at right-back or wing-back in those games and I don’t mind which one.

“Whatever formation suits us on the day, I will slot in where I’m asked.

“I’ve been a right-back for most of my career but I’ll play anywhere.

“My main role is to defend, although I enjoy getting further up the pitch.”

North End fans who are intending to make the trip to Wolves, must buy their tickets in advance.

Wolves have informed PNE that there will be no sales on the day of the game, with tickets on sale at Deepdale until 4pm on Friday.

Prices are: adults £28, seniors (65 and over) and under-21s £15, under-17s £12 and under-12s £10.

Meanwhile, Sheffield Wednesday are close to selling out their allocation for next week’s visit to Deepdale.
