Matt Jansen admits he will have no hesitation throwing defender Max Cartwright straight in at the deep end.

Cartwright, joined Chorley on a one-month loan deal from League One outfit Fleetwood Town.

The 19-year-old is no stranger to the Victory Park faithful, having spent time on loan back in the 2013/14 season.

He played a pivotal role in the Magpies’ promotion to the National League North from the NPL Premier Division.

Featuring on nine occasions, Cartwright bagged four goals in his short stint at the club.

Tonight, Chorley face their biggest game of the season taking on Northwich Victoria in the FA Cup fourth qualifying round.

As well as a place in the first round proper, £12,500 is also on the line in prize money.

“Max has matured since he was last with the club,” the Chorley boss said. “Before Graham Alexander left the club, he said Max was close to the first team – that standard is League One.

“He’s a good addition and done very well in the past. I’ve no problems in throwing Max into the team on Friday.”

Tonight’s opponents Northwich are flying high in the NPL First Division North.

They sit top of the table, having won 11 of their 12 games.

Last time out, they thrashed Radcliffe Borough 4-0.

Despite the Magpies being the favourites with the bookies, Jansen is not expecting an easy encounter.

“I want us to go there and play with confidence,” he said.

“We can’t take them lightly, they’ve only lost once this season and they’re top of the league.

“They’ve got some good players but our squad is very strong.

“I know the lads will be up for it.”

The Magpies will be taking a strong following to Wincham Park.

Four supporters’ coaches have been filled, whilst many fans will be travelling in minibuses and cars.

With more than 200 away followers expected to make the trip, Jansen hopes an atmosphere can be created.

“The fans are great, hopefully they’ll get behind the lads,” he added.

“We’re taking a good following and hopefully it will be a good atmosphere.”

Midfielder Adam Roscoe will return to the squad after recently featuring for Trafford.
